Your Online Home Based Business-How Many Back links Do You Need?

An obvious question that most people who are marketing their home based business will eventually ask is how many back links do I need?

As an article writing expert, you have the opportunity to submit author resource boxes that are the equivalent to a forum’s signature box which allow you to post 2 links back to the site of your choosing.

This poses a question about where the links are to point. Should both of them link back to the same page or should one go to the website and the other to a specific page?

Let’s look at the 2 scenarios. If you are only pointing to one website in both links, then, you might have them searching high and low for the internal page that specifically describes an item that you are selling. However, if one link is to your website and one is to your internal page, you can have some words in the anchor text that link to the specific sales page, within a few clicks, you have a sale.

Rule: The Fewer Clicks the BETTER your sales conversion.

So, back to our original question, how many back links will be enough? Let’s explore the possibilities.

A) The Quality of the back links pointing to your site.

Authority sites are the most ideal places to get back links. These sites are well-respected, trusted and are well-established on the Internet. Their links are valuable in proportion to their longevity and authority.

Where do you find these well-respected sites?

Go straight to a search engine of your choosing and do a search on your targeted keywords. Either the second or third pages will be where you will find these established authorities. Alexa and Google Page Rank are good indicators, but aren’t 100% accurate. Keep that in mind. They are just a good guess.

B) Search for your Competition

Using your keyword search tool using your targeted keywords, you can get a good idea of how much competition you will have. Just because a site has a certain phrase in its title, it doesn’t mean that it will be a fierce competitor for your home based business. By checking the back links for the particular web site, you can know for certain how you stand. If the anchor texts for that page are almost the same as your keywords, then, they are probably a competitor.

C) Targeted Keywords

Don’t be confused in your search for keywords for your online business either. Type in some relevant keywords to see if they are specific enough. If the words are too general, then, the traffic that you get won’t be as targeted as perhaps you would like.

Consider these items as you decide how many back links will be enough to promote your online home based business.
